https://youtu.be/aUIJbk0SH6o Day 19 of 30 days of Calm and the practice has become my daily pill of sanity. Among the turbulent everyday, the appreciation I feel for these brief windows of Calm is immense. Within moment of taking my seat I’m filled with a warm fuzz.
Today we venture once more into the ego mind and consider what truly we are without ego. So easily can we look at a small part if ego, “the grand gestures of showing of” or “the favour one shows themselves”.
Yet with true introspection the question takes us much deeper and penetrates the very foundation upon which we (as ego) are built.
What is not ego ultimately? And how can we answer that question without the answer itself being fragile and made of temporary thought and the result of repeated memory. Is there not something beyond that?
The great teachers are forever pointing to this but they cannot experience it for us. Daily meditation is an opportunity to bring yourself into alignment with this question:
“Who am I”?
Ask it with the same intensity for which a dying man would desire to breath. Perhaps only then the false will fade away much like how an experience if death can bring us into life.
Read the poems of Rumi, the pages of the Tao Te Ching or even the Bhagavad Gita. Run through forests alone, climb rock to watch the horizon and dance like nobody is watching. Find yourself among the ever talking ego mind and be that.
For the ego survives on your attention and belief and will be happy to confuse you forever taking every side simply to keep you in the dark. The light is not in the realm of the mind alone
